How to become a firefighter in India?

Firefighter (Firemen) is the brave person of the society that join this profession of firefighting more as a passion than as a career choice to earn only the lively hood for their families. Their job is not confined only to extinguish the fire but also to tackle any other natural or man made disasters like building collapses, accidents, plane crashes/emergency landing, earthquake etc as they are professionally trained person to tackle such situations.

How to become a firefighter in India?

Eligibility to become a firemen in India:

  • Certificate courses – 10th pass
  • ITI courses – 10th pass
  • Diploma courses – 10th, ITI or 12th pass
  • Bachelor’s Degree courses – 12th pass or passed relevant Diploma course
  • PG courses – hold a relevant Bachelor’s Degree

MEDICAL STANDARD:- Both for Male and Female

  •  Vision: Better eye – 6/6 without aid (Eligible vision – 6/6 only)
  • Colour Vision: – No colour blindness.

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL STANDARD:

PHYSICAL STANDARD FOR MALE:-

  • Minimum Height: 165 cms. (Relaxable by 5 cms in the case of Garhwal, Assamese, Gorkha member of the Schedule tribes).
  • Chest: 81 cms. Unexpanded and 86 cms. Expanded (Fully expanded with minimum of 5 cms. Expansion)
  • Weight : Proportionate to the height of the candidate

(b) PHYSICAL STANDARD FOR FEMALE :- 

  • Minimum Height :157 cms. (Relaxable by 2.5 cms in the case of Garhwal, Assamese and Gorkhamember of the Scheduled tribes).
  • Chest: not Required
  • Weight : Proportionate to the height of the candidate
